A luxury country house with a unique story- built in 1630 and opened as a hotel in 1996 by the creator of the British design label- Mulberry. Nestling peacefully on the edge of an English market town- this atmospheric country house hotel has retained the attention to detail of yesteryear but has combined it with luxurious- stylish design and modern technology. The house is relaxing and tranquil with a rich theatrical interior- 25 individually designed bedrooms- a celebrated award-winning restaurant in the conservatory and an opulent spa- offering a range of exclusive treatments and therapies for the mind body and spirit. Stylish- comfortable drawing rooms are the perfect place to unwind and the West Terrace- overlooking the gardens is perfect for al fresco dining in the summer months. Bedrooms have luxurious fabrics- amazing beds- interesting artifacts- techcology and some have cinema screens and secret gardens. The spa facilities include indoor/outdoor hydrotherapy pool- Finnish sauna- Crystal steam room- laconium- ice fountain and 5 treatment rooms including a wet room and 2 bedrooms which are used for couples retreats. Our treatments use our own handmade Montys products formulated from the finest botanical ingredients- pure essential oils and Spelt Germ Oil from our owners nearby organic farm - Sharpham Park. The hotel evokes a field to mouth and body experience with many of the dishes prepared using the organic cattle reared at Sharpham Park and the new Spelt food range. The atmosphere at the hotel imitates a relaxed house and celebrations can be held for up to 120 guests. Conferences- board meetings and private dining can be held for up to 100 theatre style in the Orangery and the hotel can be hired exclusively on a BB basis. 5 minutes walk from the hotel is the Mulberry Factory Shop and there are many tourist attractions including Bath- Bristol- Wells Cathedral and Stonehenge all within an hour of the hotel.

BRS-Bristol International 27 mi SE. From Bristol Airport at the roundabouts take the 3rd- 1st and 2nd exits- respectively onto North Side Rd. At the next roundabout take the A38 and stay on it for approximately 6 miles until you see the signpost for Wells A37- Bath A4- keep in the right hand lane then bear right onto the A38 Taunton. Bear right onto Parson St signposted A4174 signposted Bath A4- Wells A37- A39. At roundabout take the 1st exit and then turn right onto Wells Rd A37 signposted Yeovil- Wells A39. Stay on the A37 until Whitchurch then bear left onto New Rd A37 entering Temple Cloud. Stay on the road entering Farrington Gurney. At Rush Hill Junction branch left towards Shepton Mallet and stay on the A37 until Charlton crossroads. Turn left at the traffic lights and straight through the next set of traffic lights. The hotel is on the right hand side. By car from J17 of the M4 signposted Chippenham A350. Follow A350 south past Chippenham in the direction of Trowbridge until you meet the A361 to Frome. Follow the A361 past Frome towards Shepton Mallet. The hotel is located on the A361 on the left-hand side approximately one mile before the town of Shepton Mallet. From M3 J8 signposted Andover A303. Follow A303 west past Andover in the direction of Yeovil until you meet the A36 to Warminster. Follow A36 past Warminster in the direction of Bath until you meet the A361 to Frome. Follow the A361 past Frome towards Shepton Mallet. The hotel is on right one mile from Shepton Mallet. From M5 J23 signposted Bridgwater. Follow A39 signposted Glastonbury. Take the A361 through Shepton Mallet towards Frome. Charlton House is located on the A361 on the right hand side approximately one mile from Shepton Mallet. By public transportation- A regular train service operates from London Paddington to Castle Cary- approximately ten minutes drive from Charlton House. An alternative service operates between London Paddington and Bath Spa. Both services take approximately one hour and 30 minutes. We will be happy to arrange transportation from either station to Charlton House. We also have a helipad in the grounds which can be used by prior arrangement.

The World Heritage Centre of Bath is within 40 minutes of the hotel and main tourist attractions such as Wells Cathedral- Glastonbury Tor- Longleat House- Stourhead House Gardens are all within half an hour of the property.
